Rain rain go away!

It is pouring outside. Crazy, tropical, blowing, rain. And crashing thunder. In fact, I had to go move a girl out of her room because the rain was coming through the roof. (Kim, it was our room!)

It is estimated that are are 1.5 million people living in tents in Port au Prince and the surrounding areas. Most of these tents have been up since the earthquake, so they are almost 7 months old. Can you imagine being in a tent tonight, in the rain? With a dirt floor? I can't.

Isaiah 25:1-5

Lord, you are my God;
I will exalt you; I will praise your name,
for you have done wonderful things,
plans formed of old, faithful and sure.
For you have made the city a heap,
the fortified city a ruin;
the foreigners' palace is a city no more;
it will never be rebuilt.
Therefore strong peoples will glorify you;
cities of ruthless nations will fear you.
 For you have been a stronghold to the poor,
a stronghold to the needy in his distress,
a shelter from the storm and a shade from the heat
;
for the breath of the ruthless is like a storm against a wall,
         like heat in a dry place.
You subdue the noise of the foreigners;
as heat by the shade of a cloud,
so the song of the ruthless is put down.

  1. As I sit here in our Smoky Mountain cabin, I am raising my hands in praise as I listen to my favorite Gaither Gospel music. I am also touched to tears as I read this blog and scripture that you have posted. We get so excited when it rains here, listening to it on our new metal roof and hoping our creek will rise so we can hear it's glorious sound. Then I think of all these poor people of Haiti who for them this day of rain and wind will no doubt cause much discomfort and more suffering. May God remind us to always pray for these people. Love you Sarah
